TomTom worth it if you own Navigon?

I see TomTom (US only) is in the app store for $39.99. I have had Navigon since launch before TomTom and am pretty happy with it but I have never used any other GPS before it.

So is TomTom better than Navigon and worth grabbing for my $40 dollars or should I pass?

I have TomTom and like it. I have never tried Navigon though. I did pay 99.00 for my TomTom when it first came out. I also bought the car mount.

I always use Navigon. The text to speech is much clearer, display more realistic, and distance is in miles and feet rather than yards.
Stick with Navigon.

I like Tomtom for a number of reasons. First off is IQ routes, routes are calculated for the specific time of day, it takes into consideration rush hour traffic and will try and route around known congestion.
The next big improvement from the recent Tomtom App upgrade is HD Traffic,
this is live traffic information which works extremely well. You will have to subscribe to HD Traffic, but as a professional driver I find this feature to be worth the cost.
I would say if you're someone who only uses Satnav occasionally, then any low cost navigation app will get the job done, but if you want an app that will give as much information as possible and give better routing directions, I would recommend Tomtom.

Navigon's routing fu is still pretty weak compared to TomTom.

The problem with my routes is that is bases it off that person's driving patterns. And you still need to pick the route without traffic on it which is hit or miss without the add-on. IQ routes is different in that it uses actual traffic patterns to figure out the route for you. So if your local freeway is always clogged between 4pm and 6pm every weekday, you should see TomTom recommend the major surface streets instead of the freeway during those hours, even without a traffic subscription or add-on. It's about using traffic data to make better generalizations about the time it takes to run a route, and is part of TomTom map data.

Navigon's strengths are already well documented in this thread, and I pretty much agree with all of them. However, I've yet to see an iPhone nav app that beats TomTom on routing features and intelligence on equal footing.
