1st question.

I know how to put customized SMS tones on my phone, and edit the plist file to update these names, because obviously Electronic isnt my COD4 battle cry lol. And its easier to know what tone does what then to click and guess.

But anyways, i have a total of 6 tones,

Iphone default location: root/system/library/audio/uisounds/

From there, i back up the original 6 tones, and then copy my other 6 tones over, obviously changing the tone name to match what is on my iphone:

sms-recieved1.caf, through 6.caf

Now when i go to my iphone (also updated my plist file to reflect changes so it just doesnt show stock names.) and click on the first one which was originally TRI TONE, it doesnt do anyting but yet 2-6 works fine.

So i thought it was the plist file, so i put the original back in. Same issue, everything works except TRI TONE. when i check the plist file, it shows that the TRI TONE is the default. Like its locked or something.

Any body got any ideas? I even went as far as using a different aiff file that ive converted. Using the same method i did for the other tones.

2nd question:

Apple released 3.0.1 can i update and jailbreak with this?

Not sure but sound like you go through a lot of work. I also make my own custom sounds and tones but I use Winterboard to toggle them on and off. Have you tried that?

How the hell you use winterboard to toggle them?

Like i have all my themes set up so i can toggle them but i didnt kno it worked for sounds

Thanks for the post. Though i noticed that some tones are LOCKED.

Ie tri tones cannot be changed which is sms-recieved1.caf

and new-mail.caf cannot be changed neither.
