i seem to not be able to open itunes. it says another user is using it but there is only one user on my computer. i want to be able to get summerboard to work but nothing i do gets it to work so how can i redo the unlock to get everything to work.

You mean itunes on your computer or on your phone?

If its on your computer then restart your computer as it has NOTHING to do with your phone.

As for summerboard - it simply does not work unless you have the correct patch as far as I am aware - do a search on the forums for summerboard.

The unlock/lock has nothing to do with summerboard however.

It also depends on how you jailbreaked your phone.

If you used pwnage then simply restore to the custom firmware again.

If you used any other method then restore to 1.1.4 with itunes and then jailbreak/activate again using iLiberty. DO NOT unlock again as it will stay unlocked.

i got the itunes to work. i then decided to restore my phone to start over but it would fully restore because it doesnt have service for some reason to finish what do i do or how can i fix this???

ok so i used iliberty again to rejailbreak my iphone after the failure to beable to restore to a previous date. can someone tell me how to properly restore my phone to the virgin state

Your being very unclear about what your doing and seem to be confused.

To get your phone back to factory condition:

Plug it into iTunes - click on RESTORE and let it restore.

When it has finished it will ask you to activate it - if your on an official iPhone carrier you can activate it.

If it asks you to "restore previous settings from backup" then DON'T make sure you set it up as a NEW phone.

If you want it to stay in factory condition, ie, NOT jailbreaked then just activate it with iTunes.

If your not on an official contract you have to jailbreak your phone and unlock it IF YOU HAVE NOT already unlocked it.

Only you know if you unlocked it when you ran iLiberty - if you did NOT select unlock that it won't be unlocked.

If your not on an official iPhone carrier you have to unlock AND activate before it will work... just jailbreaking will NOT let you use another SIM card.
