I know, its 24 here in Northampton, and its going to be 26 degrees on Tuesday, right when I have to sit A Levels in a hot and stuffy hall  I can't bear to think about it. Oh well, iPad on Friday. :D
Try restarting your iPad? Or it might be the aluminium back is simply adding heat instead of dissipating it.

I am sitting at a 27 iMac and have windows and doors open all round the house and still the metal on the top is to hot to keep my hand pressed against... What is going on? This isn't the UK that I am used to! I am even wearing shorts! Thats right SHORTS!

Well we had a proper winter so maybe we get a proper summer this year too. Its been 10 years since I last started melting in my house in the middle of the UK.

I had the same problem. Went out to the garden to do some note taking on the iPad and it shut off after 15 minutes.

Damn weather :)

It's boiling here too. Can only use the computers for a few minutes then sleep them for a while to cool off.

BTW, the same thing happens every year here in the UK. Hot for a week or two at the end of May ( Why does everyone forget) then it's back to the depths of winter for 11.75 months.

all I can say, don't come to Texas, boys. Ya'll will melt!
Sorry double post, my iPad might be melting too.

It was so hot today that an old lady NEARLY took her coat off while she was moaning about the heat.

It was 35c here in Texas with 80% humidity .
I was using my iPad out in the patio and it never complained.

But then again I was not sitting in the sun so that might be the cause of some of these but I do not know that for sure

That is strange. I live here in UAE and it's now around 39 or 40C. My iPad is in a thick hard candy rubber case and it never switched off. Maybe your iPad is a little sensitive or something.

ipads are just like people, if you buy one in the uk its not going to expect to get hot, but if you buy one in india its not going to expect to get cold, but if you keep our ipad outside in hot weather it'll get a tan, and be able to operate at 30c or what not

I've been playing with this the last few days and if you keel the screen out of the sun it's fine. The dark front soaks the sun up very quickly.
