Too many "error report" on my Imac

Hi everyone,

After three months of using IMAC I cannot continue like this.
On my Imac (21"5 2010 week 03) I had 5 to 10 crash with deferent applications per day. Only the Mail doesn't crash.
When I buy this MAC everyone said MAC is stable. But I never met that with my Windows Xp !

Apple care asked to me to restart with couples of keyboard fonction to have two bip on startup. But it's still unstable...

What do you think about that ? Someone had the same experience ?

It's probably just a software issue. something got corrupted or something.

Try deleting the preference files for the apps that are giving you problems and the apple ones like Finder et al.

If that doesn't help, try reinstalling OS X.

Well, heres what ya should do:

1. Every time an application crashes, hit the report to Apple button, fill out the forum and send it off to Apple.

2. How much RAM have you got? What sort of apps are you running? How many are ya running at any given time?

Do that, and post back here the answers to the questions in question 2. Cheers! Good luck!

Same behavior here on my MacBook Pro Unibody. I switched one year ago and never had a stable system so far. I have tried everything. All the good tips and tricks about various things getting corrupt and need to be repaired.

I never understood why NV/P RAM, permissions, file system and preference files always can get corrupt on OSX and need to be repaired. I never repaired that much on windows. And when you follow the forums this never helps really. The problems come back.

The only explanation I have so far is that there must be a hardware problem. Otherwise OSX would be a shame. The problem is that this problem is maybe hard to find.

I had the machine at an Apple service provider these days due to repeated kernel panics and crashing applications. What do you think? They cannot reproduce the behavior .... So bad luck.

The guy from the service center told me the following simple but maybe true thing. Due to to disassembling and reassembling the whole machine a bad wire connection maybe gets a correct contact again. Hope dies last.

At this point I would take it to Apple to fix. It is still under 12 months old so it shouldn't cost you anything. Just call Apple Care and make an appointment. If you are getting so many crashes it should be easy for them to duplicate the problem, and they have programs to run to test for problems. There are also error and crash logs on the computer that they can use for diagnostics.

I got 8Gb of ram, the only specific software I use is Nikon Capture NX2 for photography.

I will try to get some feedback from apple care.

I got mine repaired by AppleCare last week. Not a single crash up to now.

They exchanged replaced the mother board (memory controller) twice and one of the memory module (I have 2x2GB).

This explains well the application crashes (Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)) when the application cannot read from memory as expected.

The funny thing was that non of the apple test tools ever indicated a bad memory. Seams to have something to do with DMA transfers from external devices (disc, DVD) to RAM (I had corrupt file systems as well on unpredictable points in time). Maybe this is not tested by Apple tools.

So it seams that i have a rock stable machine again. That's why i bought an Apple.

Mine was doing the same, crashes got more frequent after a few months. Took it to Apple store and they replaced some hardware, all good now.
