So I thought it was okay to update my "unlocked" 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 and jailbreak by installing Oktoprep via installer.app prior to the update. I've read almost every blog post online 3 days ago making sure it was okay so I did the update last night...updated iTunes to 7.5 on my mac and iPhone to 1.1.2. To my horror, after the update, my iPhone was locked again. I later realised the Oktoprep and latest jailbreak for 1.1.2 only works for "non-unlocked" phones running on AT&T. I don't recall this was ever mentioned prior to 3 days ago.

So now I have a locked 1.1.2 iPhone in my hands which is pretty much useless at the current state for where I live (outside of US). Again, there are many sources/blogs with different instructions on how to downgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 and some even mentioned down to 1.0.2 then back up to 1.1.1.

Does anyone know the simplest, and free way to downgrade my iPhone to the original 1.1.1 that it came in, so I can unlock it to use my sim card and jailbreak it from my mac? Do I need to downgrade my iTunes to 7.4? Reading many sources have left me clueless. Thanks in advance!

i'm in a similar situation. I am clueless except I haven't proceeded to update.I unlocked my phone with Iphonesimfree, what did you use to unlock yours?

I had the same problem, at the end i downgraded to 1.0.2m restored the baseband and upgraded to 1.1.1 using iNdependence.

I have both the instructions and files, I'll upload to this forum today.

I have a UK iPhone 1.1.2. I currently have it downgraded to 1.1.1 and using it as a iTouch. I have read on this forum that by downgrading it further to 1.0.2, I would be able to use the iPhone features with an O2 sim card? Is this correct, and if so, please provide a simple step by step idiots guide on how to do this....thank you!

(tried a few methods but found them too confusing)

the onlly downgrade I've seen is this:

http://code.google.com/p/iphone-elite/wiki/Downgrade112

It apparently takes you from 1.1.2 to 1.0.2 but I haven't tested it. Presumably, you can go then from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 or play with the instructions and try to go straight to 1.1.1

Thanks a lot Arn. I'll have a look at it but I think it's for windows...not sure. BTW, MacRumors feels snappier after the server updates.

I actually bought the phone unlocked with installer.app already installed. They phone shop was using Windows to unlock and jailbreak 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 iPhones.

Looking forward to your instructions to be posted here. :D

I think I have dozens of bookmarks saved, but don't know which one works best and reliable. I'm done kicking myself for jumping the gun on updating my iPhone. I knew I shouldn't have but I was given a false impression that jailbreak works for all 1.1.2 after updating from 1.1.1 and installing OktoPrep. :(

Please take this as non-factual information. From what I've read, the UK iPhone 1.1.2 has a different bootloader 04.06_M3S2 and no unlocking is available yet so all the unlocking that is available commercial or free will not work. This is my understanding.

I appreciate that the UK iPhone cannot be fully unlocked just yet, but there are one or two rumours going around that O2 based sim cards can be made to work (with the loss of one or two features) with the O2 supplied UK iPhones. It has been mentioned on this forum too. Just need an idiots way on how to go about it....please help!

Thanks
