Took my son who just started college to the Apple store to get a Macbook. The guy who helped us said the only difference between the Pro and the Air is the number of fans! WTF? do they bother to train their employees. I have a 16" MacBook Pro M1. I am a content creator so it's perfect for me. My son is a business major so he got the M2 14" MacBook Air.

You were probably looking at the M2 Air vs. the 13" M2 MacBook Pro. There the only significant internal difference is indeed that the latter has fans, which is probably what he meant. Otherwise, the differences are: 1080p (Air) vs. 720p (MBP) camera, a slight difference in the displays, and that the MBP has a Touch Bar. And of course a different case design.

I.e., other than the camera, the only difference that you can't see is the fans, so by saying that he was indeed giving you the essence of what you needed to know to distinguish the two machines.

The Air has Touch ID as well doesn’t it?
