I have a curious question’s to all in this forum🙂

If you edit your pictures, what programs do you use to edit?
And also, what devices do you use in that case?
Is it iPad, Mac or Pc?

For me I don’t use Photoshop or similar.
But when I do I use my iPad for lighter editing.

I use Lightroom Classic on a Mac. When I travel I use either the Photos app, or Lightroom on an iPad.

I do my editing exclusively on my Mac with Affinity Photo.

I ingest first into HoudahGeo (for geotagging), and then edit with Capture One Pro. Very seldomly something needs to go to Affinity.

All on a mac; for me iPhones / iPads are for consumption, not creation.

DXO Photolab , mostly . Affinity Photo sometimes . Final resizing/tweaks in Photoshop Elements . They're tools , I just use the one that works best for what I'm trying to do. Maybe on an iMac , more likely on a Windows desktop.

I do all of my photo editing on my primary computer, a 16" M1 MBP, and this works well for me. The photo editing software I use: DXO PhotoLab 7, occasionally ON1 RAW Photos 2024, with hops into Topaz Photo AI and/or Luminar AI when I feel they can add an appropriate finishing touch when needed.

most of my editing is using Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, on a 16 M1 MBP, with occasional quick edits with Lightroom Mobile on the iPad M4 Pro or iPhone.

Images are imported to LrC to keep a local copy which is then backed up to various locations: NAS, portable hard disks etc.

Lightroom Classic. Color calibrated screens. LG 55" OLED and Benq 32".
I would never do any serious work on laptops or tablets because their screens look "too good" and would be hard to calibrate, I think. Besides, I'm very uncomfortable with touch screens, and they're too small.

All of my photos are edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2024.
Edited on a Mac.

I've tried Lightroom, Capture One, DxO PhotoLab, Affinity, and a few others. I keep going back to the one that fits me best.

I don’t know which member here that made this tool recommendation, but I’m guessing @mollyc ?🙂
I didn’t know how to do this so thanks for that.

And thanks to all of you for replying.
Always fun to read what you’re using for hardware and software😊

Members cannot move their own threads. It appears that the thread may have been reported so that a moderator was alerted and thus moved your thread for you since the POTD thread is not intended to be a discussion thread. As the POTD (Photo of the Day) thread's title suggests, it is primarily for images (one per day per participant, etc.), with occasional brief comments on said images.....

However, in the case of your thread, this is the sort of topic which definitely lends itself to many responses, comments and subsequent discussion. We have an entire forum for this purpose, and this is where we are meant to talk about all things photography-related or start additional threads for various reasons.

i just suggested this be moved to its own thread. i didn’t report it as it can be relevant to the POTD thread. but i thought it was a good topic for dedicated discussion since software options change frequently. 🙂

but all members can start their own new threads at any time in the photography subforum.

I used to edit with Lightroom classic on a 2016 MBP. My MBP died almost two years ago and I was still paying for Lightroom classic until I decided last month to cancel it for now. Since I’m just a hobbyist and not doing any serious shooting lately, I use Lightroom mobile and the photos app on a iPad pro 12.9.

Hi when I work on a photograph, I use both the computer and iPad Pro. I have been working on Photo restorations of 40s and 50s. The iPad has more control with the pencil and the applications I use are Photoshop for the clone and mostly spot healing brush. I use Procreate for filling in areas where the healing brush did not work. I have used Artstudio Pro and it is very powerful but has a learning curve at first. I use the PC version of Photoshop to finish it off size and if color - color correction, because the iPad cannot even come close to colors you see is what you print. My computer is color calibrated (screens/Printer/Paper)
I do not just use one program for Photographs.
I would suggest for photos - try Artstudio Pro. Learn a tool a day and do not get overwhelmed. Make sure you back up your photos before playing with one.

I use Lightroom Classic primarily, and occasionally Photoshop if it's beyond what Lightroom can do(although it seems like every revision of Lightroom gives me even less reason to use Photoshop as Adobe continues to add tools, and I'm finding that in many case I prefer the LR tools to their Photoshop counterpart).

I have CaptureOne-I used the free version for Fuji files, and then bought a perpetual license when they offered a really good discount to users of the free version. I find it MAYBE does a bit better with my X-T5 files, but the difference is slight and it's generally not worth changing my workflow to do it. CaptureOne is a great tool-it's more just that so much of Lightroom is second nature to me and pretty much any other editor I spend far too much time looking for the tool I need and/or figuring out how it works. Even the basic tools like levels and curves I find work somewhat differently-usually subtly but still differently-across various editing programs and it can be time consuming to have to figure out how to get it to do what when-for me-with the software I use all the time-I usually can jsut touch the adjustment and get it pretty darn close to what I want on the first try.

Software: DXO PL (90%) / Affinity Photo / PhotoPro / Pixelmator Photo (should use that more, but still don't feel comfortable/knowledgeable yet) / QimageOne (only for printing).
Hardware: Eizo GC2700S (serious editing, especially for printing) / 27" iMac (more for viewing and occasionally fast sRGB sharing with others/family/computers).
