With a bunch of new iOS users, I'm sure they'd love a jump start on what's best in the broad App Store.

I'm mainly a browser person (boring, I know), but Instapaper and Dropbox are two of my favorites. I doubt you can get a definitive top ten considering the amount of apps in the store and people's different preferences.

I am t-pain wuld be amazing once they give us video capability and fix the mic playback problem (for 4th gen iPod touch) other than that I don't like the fact that if you do something while it is downloading a song for the app the song is blank. But with the cam a great buy for when music videos r allowed for iPod touch 4g. And wait around to see if it becomes $.99 anytime soon cuz it does every once in a while

I want one that will let me turn my iPod Touch into a voice recorder so I can record my lectures and upload them to my laptop before editing them and turning them into MP3's.

In no particular order, my most-used:

-Facebook
-The Weather Channel
-At Bat 2010
-NPR News
-Remote
-Texts From Last Night
-YouMail
-Tempo (metronome)
-Edge
-Plants vs. Zombies

- GoodReader
- Facebook
- Twitter for iPhone
- Skype
- GV Mobile + (I'd wait for Push, however)
- Remote
- StreamToMe
- Epicurious
- DropBox
- Netflix

AppBox Pro

My most useful App is AppBox Pro http://www.allaboutapps.net/ There are a total of 31 applications, stashed in this meta-app. Believe me it is one of the best .99¢ you will ever spend. Below is a screen shot of page one, there is two pages. You also have a choice of icons as well.

I have always thought it is just common courtesy to include a hot link to any thing i refer to on the net.:)

Have looked for some of the apps listed above - seems a number of them aren't available here. In any case, not a top ten below, but perhaps some that are of use:

Shazam - free song recognition app. [Using microphone.] Also provides additional information and links relating to the songs you find. Have used it enough times to identify relatively obscure music - even at a distance - to say that it is essential.

Tunein Radio - largest international directory of stations that I've been able to use. International blocking introduced by one US company a few months ago meant my own access to some of my favoured news / sports stations was removed, but it shouldn't be an issue for anyone in the US. Also allows recording and playback of previous shows depending on the station.

eBuddy Pro - instant messenger app. I find it has better functionality than the windows live app, which is the only other one I would consider using. Some may prefer Beejive.

Justin.tv - free. Watch streams on justin.tv. Works surprisingly well, and in my case, often better than when using a computer. Broadcast function is apparently forthcoming for the new iPod Touch in the next update.

NHL Ice Time - entirely dependent on level of interest, of course, but this allows me to watch highlights and listen to games that might otherwise be blocked via standard radio apps. Waiting for new release.

Picture Safe - manage locked photo albums and videos [with additional bought update].

Worms - Classic game. Disturbingly addictive.

Google Earth

My justin tv sometimes closes, and sometimes the search wont work:confused: but has worked well when I really need it:cool:

Pocket Informant - events and task manager, syncs to Gcal and Toodledo. Great timebar month view.
Awesome Note - notes, backs up to both Google Docs and Evernote
Outliner - online sync, name says it all.
Stanza - ebook reader
TIME mobile - news
Fluent News - news from various sources
Twitter
Facebook
Active Money Pro - best finance app imo
Downloads - YouTube downloads
NotifyMe 2 - great for reminders that need to have snooze ability
UniWar - online war game
Dead Runner - great for killing short amounts of time

On my iPhone but good for iPod also

Dragon search (voice search of google, YouTube etc) awesome app
Dragon dictation (secretary on the go :)) )
Dropbox
Pastebot (clipboard)
Snippets (generic responses to emails)
Shapewriter (jury still out on this one)
Mini mortage
Jotnot pro (scanner sort of)
Group email (distribution lists)
Slingplayer

These are my most used apps.
