My top 10 Reasons

1. Since switching to Mac in 2006, I have longed for a cell with a Mac GUI.

2. My beloved Pocket PC phone's contacts were destroyed after I attempted to sync it with the company's PC without saving the contacts correctly.

3. MissingSync misplaced contact data into the wrong fields all the time. So I longed to sync an Apple phone to an Apple computer.

4. MacRumors.com drew me into the black hole. I wasn't going to buy one, and sat on the fence until iDay.

5. The GUI so freakin' cool.

6. I took the Nokia N800 on a test drive and got the fever for the Internet in my pocket.

7. The web browser's superior functionality. Way to go, Apple!

8. I sold my video iPod in anticipation of a full-screen video iPod when it was still just a rumor. It feels so great to have a video iPod again.

9. 8 GB. Most cell phones have 2-4GB expansion cards, so 8GB rocks.

10. It makes me happier than any therapist can.

11. I'm an gay individual and I love Apple products since the 80s when they represented the Rainbow Apple logo. Majority of the Gay community uses Apple products. Great prodcut!

Its not - the majority of gay people use windows just like everyone else. There might be a higher percentage of GLBT persons that use Macs but it is not that majority - but this is based on stereotyping, more GLBT persons are artist etc, and not fact.

Also the Logo on the Apple in the 80's had nothing to do with the Rainbow Flag - which uses different colors than the Apple logo. The Gay Pride Flag dropped colors in 1979.

1. Next Gen iPod & iTunes - Wanted a next generation touchscreen iPod for playing my movies, tv shows, audio/video podcasts, music, audiobooks. It's never been this good. Wide screen. Cover flow. Speakerphone. Kick-stands on belt-clips. iTunes integration, best media management app I'd ever encountered when it first came out. Still love it. Sizeable investment in iTunes-only media.
2. Best of Breed, clean product presentation - Needed a new phone/smartphone, unsatisfied with competitors and promises that never quite measured up without a "gotcha". Others have found things that they did not like about the iPhone, but these have all been clearly disclosed before purchase (however ignored), unlike many other vendors. Apple has innovated the online demonstration and walk-through of the device unlike ANYTHING else in the market. Most other phones have demonstrations crippled with confusion and misguided "design" ideas that never pay off in informing potential buyers. Clear, clean, IN STORE demonstration of ALL FEATURES.
3. REAL WEB in my pocket - Always wanted a truly mobile, full-fledged Internet browsing experience. While missing Flash or Java, I'm really not missing Flash of Java (except for occasional videos playback). EDGE has been better than expected and combined with WiFi is a knock-out punch.
4. Google Maps - Simply excellent. Ever since I first used map quest with Avant Go, this is what I truly wanted. With bookmarks, traffic, turn-by-turn directions, and contact list integration, its hugely powerful.
5. OS X and Trend Setting Appeal - Promising platform that seeks to break long established traditions in the mobile industry. Clear evidence of "outside of the box thinking", and a track record for innovation. Usage of OS X speaks of nothing but untapped potential and the will to unleash it.
6. NEW UI - Entirely NEW user-interface paradigm for mobile devices. Everyone, even the closest competitors like Synaptics are trailing behind. Pinch, flick, tap, etc have all been very well thought out and used to create a unique and insanely effortless experience.
7. Visual Voicemail - Loved the idea of visual voicemail. Something I didn't even realize how badly I wanted. The idea of seeing messages visually, in and order, with EASY playback controls, is the way things SHOULD be.
8. Contacts/Calendar Syncing, Integration - For the first time, I can see myself reconciling my contacts and calendars with such an easy to sync, yet powerful phone platform. Phones like Helio underscore the pathetic state of the industry on contact syncing. That my contacts link to the phone, Google maps, web browser, and email... all just a tap away, is powerful unlike anything I've ever used.
9. Back to the Mac - Moving back to using the Mac as my primary platform and wanted maximum compatibility and 1st class vendor support.
10. Accessories - Very encouraged by the degree of accessory support (clocks, speakers, etc) and power-charging options for the device's connector (however, still reconciling compatibility).
