Yahoo had/has an article today on how to get computers cheaper, even mentioning that Apple sells refurbs. Nothing really new here. However what was interesting is that to the right of the article was a 'related' column showing the 'Top-Ranked Computers'.

1. Western Digital My Passport Essential SE Hard Drive $129.00 (though not really a computer)...

2. Lenovo G550 Notebook $499

3. iPad Wi-Fi 64GB Tablet $649

4. Aspire 5734 AS5734Z-4725 Notebook $379.99

5. iPad Wi-Fi 16GB Tablet $449

6. iPad Wi-Fi + 3G 64GB Tablet $779

7. MacBook $849

8. iPad Wi-Fi + 3G 16GB Tablet $579

Though I'm not sure what they are ranking since a hard drive is listed and # 9 (not listed) is a wireless mouse/keyboard set, I though it was interesting that the iPad hit 4 of the top 8 spots and that including the MacBook that made 5 for Apple. All this adjacent to an article about lowering your computer cost, and citing sub $500 PC laptops, a game Apple isn't really in.

I'd like to see you try to build your own laptop.

I build my own laptops everyday, and use eurocom to assemble them?

for example: lol
