What's the best twitter app of 2010?

My favs are SimplyTweet, the official Twitter app (after they updated it to have push notifications), and Osfoora.

The best one imho is TwitBird Pro. The Espresso Sugar theme is the best looking theme on any Twitter client. Unfortunately, TwitBird Pro is broken badly and I'm just waiting on Apple to get their thumbs out of their asses and approve the update.

So the best one is TwitBird Pro. Even though it's broken badly.

Brilliant.

Tried Tweetdeck yesterday it was so glitchy...Not a fan

I fiddled around with a bunch but ended back with the official Twitter client app. Better than the website even ...

I remember the original Echofon before there was a pro version. It was really nice. It was free, no Ads, and had everything. Then the developer made a Pro version with exactly the same stuff plus things promised to the free version and charged money. Then dumbed down the free version with less features and added Ads. I remember when I constantly had to see that 1 on the appstore because I didn't want update (Downgrade).

I do remember that. When I first signed up for Twitter, Echofon was the very first Twitter app I had on my then iPhone 3G. After awhile, I got tired of the app, and moved on and tried a few other apps (primarily Tweetie, which is now the official Twitter app) and even Osfoora. About 3 months ago, I checked Echofon out again, and decided to shell out the $5 for the Pro version. It has pretty much everything that I at least look for in a Twitter client. Plus, it works between my iPhone and iPad.

Does Echofon Pro give the option to post to FaceBook wall?

Each time I read these threads I'm surprised most people stick with the official Twitter app or Echofon etc... there are a few hidden gems that I'd like to suggest...

1. TweetList - my no.1, so fast, smooth, TwitLonger posts are automatically expanded for you in the timeline, it has in-line links, in-line translate (no popup translation windows), conversations are automatically loaded for you http://zooble.com/tweetlist

2. Tweetings - has more features than TweetList and most other apps, lots of themes to choose from http://www.tweetings.net/site/iphone/

3. TweetLogix - another contender for the crown, not been around quite as long but it's catching up to the others nicely http://onloft.com/

The most important point regarding apps such as TweetList and Tweetings is the amount of support and regular updates from the developers.

These apps are updated far more regularly than all the standard ones everyone else seems to mention, meaning we are always getting new features and tweaks to make the twitter experience better.

I highly recommend people try TweetList or the others, use for a few days then try going back to using what you used to use.... ;)

Installing Tweetlists now and have also installed Tweetings light, gonna give em a go.

The "broken" thing is temporary, you know. Brilliant. Thanks for the genius reply.

Recommending a "broken" piece of software = FAIL (even if it is temporary). Twitter for iPhone is IMO one of the best and most stable iPhone apps in the whole store (not just for Twitter). It is fast, feature-rich,and above all...works.

No. However, they do have a separate app for Facebook though (it's $2.99 I think). I believe Tweetdeck is the only app in which you can Tweet and updated you FB status at the same time.

I really hate when you post new Twitter clients to check out, haha. Now I'm compelled to look into Tweetings and TweetLogix. I'm always on the lookout for new Twitter clients. I checked out Tweetlist, but it wasn't my cup of tea. I'll check out the other two though.

In all seriousness, thanks for the suggestions.

Cool, be interested to hear your thoughts - send tweets to the devs with feedback to, they appreciate it.

I beta test TweetList and Tweetings and soon TweetLogix hopefully.

I've been using TweetList for a while as well... love that you can view conversations. I can't use a twitter client without that feature now (and surprisingly, it seems most don't have it).

On the iPhone the best is the official Twitter client, followed by Osfoora and Weet.

On the iPad it's not so obvious, I bought Osfoora HD as the Twitter panels UI annoys the hell out of me. In all honesty, there isn't one Twitter client for the iPad I'd even call good.

Please don't take this as a mine vs yours, but for comparison, the official Twitter app is terrible compared to some of the latest versions of TweetList (2.0 just release btw), Tweetings and Tweetlogix.

The official Twitter app does not let you view a conversation from any search results so you find a tweet via a search but cannot then instantly see what the conversation was about. Tweetlist just auto-loads and shows you the full conversation.

Tweetlist auto-expands any Twitlonger posts inside the timeline, again when you use this everyday it's just impossible to go back and use the other apps that don't just do it automatically for you, or you need extra taps or worse still have to open a browser window to view the twitlonger site!

If you choose to translate a tweet, in TweetList the translation is done in your timeline, no popup window, once you've translated that tweet it remains translated in your timeline or in any search or conversation views as well.
There is some very clever caching going on.

Each time a new version of a twitter app is released I go back and try it for a day or two, Twitter, Osfoora and Weet get deleted pretty quick as they can't do half of these things I'm afraid to say.

Weet is gorgeous to look at but it's hardly updated by the developer, is a million miles behind TweetList, Tweetings and TweetLogix in features, eye-candy isn't everything.

Seriously, the devs of my top 3 are insanely active on their twitter accounts, replying to questions every day, fixing bugs and getting new versions out - most other apps remain stale.

Tweetings for the iPad actually isn't that bad. I used Osfoora HD, and grew tired of it. Then I used Echofon, but since I use it on my iPhone, I wanted another Twitter client to use. Although I'm not a huge fan of Tweetings iPhone app, their iPad app is pretty good. It was $3.99 spent wisely.

Definitely Echofon Pro. I've tried a million of them and i can't stand anything but Echofon Pro.
