What are the options for iOS? I live in the UK and there are new internet content laws being drafted, so this has caught my interest.

I know of Onion Browser in the App Store but this app is not as 'anonymous' as the Orbit (Official Tor) app for android users.

For any of you unaware of Tor, check out the Tor project with a google search. Anyone aware of any projects like Tor, tweaks for iOS or apps for iOS that give anonymous internet browsing?

Many thanks,

The easiest solution would be to use a VPN service.

Or are you needing to access the tor network for something?

TOR provides anonymity. Your browser requests connect to TOR on one end and become encrypted. They come out at an exit node that is usually in a different country or another part of the country you're in. The exit nodes are switched on a frequent schedule. This keeps your IP address changing so that while browsing you may appear to be in several different countries.

TOR also protects your browser info. You can be on a Mac, but the TOR browser will show that you are using a common PC with a common browser. Much harder to pick out one person from a crowd of the same. TOR will also protect you from tracking. Headers are covered and in internet logs it will show that you just popped up on the site and NOT from what site you came from to get there.

A VPN also encrypts your traffic, but the VPN admin can see it if they want to. Also, it's a fixed IP address so anyone can see where your traffic is coming from.

Thanks for the details on how tor works that will probably be helpful to alot of users.

All i did was point out that using a vpn service on a iPhone would be the easiest solution for most users as this could be connected over 3g or wifi unlike the tor option within cydia.

The other thing that alot of novices don't realize is that tor is only secure if its used in the correct way and in my time as a network engineer this is often not the case.
