Torchlight 2 was just announced today. There's not much information yet, but I'm as excited as a kid in a candy shop with a credit card! :D

TL2's main updates are...
  • A real story... they even hired a writer!
  • Weather and day/night effects
  • multiplayer over LAN or Internet
  • Overworld, that is, mountains, and valleys, and not just mines and caves
  • Refined UI
  • 4 new classes (the old classes are NPC's)

Hell yes I am exited!

The classes will have gender choices and custom appearences, mix of random and persistant dungeons...

I fecking love the art style, the classes so far (the Railman, like an Engineer and the Outlander, sort of a Ranger) both sound cool.

:D

Definitely looking forward to it ... hopefully it will launch as cross-platform on Steam as well :)

So far so good, they confirmed Windows will be first but it should be the same as the first TL, you buy the windows version you get the mac one when it launches a little while later.

if you buy on steam that is.. TL was sold via retail I think not sure how that worked in terms of Mac.. could it be purchased digitally from the dev's site? Not sure how that worked either but I know for sure SteamPlay made it easy for both windows/mac to have same game.

Do people still play the original Torchlight?

Yep, it's the best loot crawl since D2 (although Titan Quest is deeper it lacked visceral combat). I will play it till the sequel hits too, endless dungeon and high lvl cap? so much to do.

Do people still play the original Torchlight?

Of course. I was never really into the genre, but for some reason I keep coming back to Torchlight. 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there. What I really want is multiplayer so I'm looking forward to Torchlight 2.
