The same day as STEAM is 'supposedly' being released on OS X...

coincidence?!?!?!??!

(I hope so as I purchased Torchlight through STEAM)

Yes, it's through STEAM as well. And anyone who bought the PC version will get the Mac version... for freee! :)

Well Well

Guess I will be installing Steam and Torchlight tomorrow won't I?!

I have played torchlight a lot already, however, I will purchase the Mac version, just because I can.

That's what I did--I asked the devs if the mac version was going to be on steam and they said "we sure hope so." That was enough of a "yes" for me.

Speaking of which...it's downloading in steam right now!!

Downloaded it last night and played for a couple of hours. Great game! Really reminded me of Diablo which is why I bought it. Very happy to have a decent game for the mac.

Too bad your save games from playing it in Windows don't come over when playing it on your Mac. :( Guess I needed to try a different character anyways...

Considering the game uses STEAM's "cloud" service, I was surprised to see this as well. I hope they will get this feature of STEAM working between the PC and Mac versions in the future.

i've just downloaded the demo. Is there any limit to how far I can play in the demo? Also, if I decide to purchase the game later, am I able to continue using the character I used in the demo?

I figured out how to copy them over manually last night. It wasn't quite as easy as I expected.

Find the save game files in windows under Documents and Settings/<User>/Application Data/Runic Games/ ... (don't remember the rest of the path but it should be obvious)

A mirror of this directory structure should exist on your mac under <user>/Library/Application Support/Runic Games/Torchlight/...

I already had a dummy character made up on the mac, and I found that simply blowing away the old save files and replacing them with my PC ones didn't work at all. Running Torchlight back up gave me my dummy mac character back and reset the save files. Weird.

So instead I renumbered my PC save files (each save file is named with a number, starting at 0 or 1 and going up) so that they numbered after the mac save file, and copied them across leaving the mac file where it was.

Then I could go to "Load Character" in Torchlight and pick my PC character from the list. A quick check in game confirmed that it worked fine.

Hope that helps a bit. Sorry it's a bit light on the specifics.
