Soooo yeahhhh,

As the title says, I opened up my old iPod Video to swap the battery and I tore the ribbon connecting the hold switch to the headphone ribbon.

The iPod still works and so does the sound but the hold switch is done....

I don’t think there is an effective way to repair it.

I will be purchasing a local iPod that has some screen damage and a swollen battery for parts in hope I can fix it for $10. I also purchased a non OEM one on eBay but it will not be here for another few weeks.

I am usually pretty careful with devices (I repair chromebooks as part of my job) and am not too worried about getting it fixed, but DANG that was frustrating.

Anyway, I will also be replacing the front faceplate as well.

So since in am in this deep, is the iFlash stuff really worth it?

Hi,
as long as the harddrive works and the capacity is enough for you there is no need to replace it. To replace the hold button you either have to change the whole headphone jack with the hold button or just the hold slider depending of what is broken. You can also buy a new headphone jack via aliexpress or eBay for about 10 bugs.

Regards
Torsten
