Who else is waiting for the 3G iPad? I know I am.

Who wants to make a trip together from Toronto to the Apple Store in Buffalo, NY and get the 3G iPad on launch date (likely 4/23 or 4/24)? Especially now that all the freight forwarders (Myus, ComGateway and others) have been blocked by Apple.

We can all pitch in and save gas that way, plus save on sales tax and the waiting game. I think whoever wants to be the designated driver (forth or back) should get paid a little too. Sounds like a good fair plan?

For Mac Rumors members who are 18 or above only.

let's see if we can get this going, shall we?

Is Rogers going to support the Ipad when it isn't even released in Canada yet?

The iPad 3G will work fine with Rogers (and its subsidary Fido), Telus and Bell's 3G network. All you need to do is just get a micro-SIM card or use a pair of scissors to cut your regular SIM card down to micro-SIM size.

Micro-SIM and SIM card are exactly the same, apart from the physical size.

You guys should consider each buy an extra one or two to sell on kijiji, and help covering your travel expenses.

I know I don't have the funds to get more than 1. But if others want to do it, good for them - so long as there'll be a 32GB 3G one at the store for me.

So who's in?

I'm going to be in Boston next weekend. Will pick one up if there is stock at any of the stores.

Got a 3G on Friday and is not working on Fido. I have seen people reporting the same for Fido and Rogers. Its not a matter of been locked because its not but a matter of Fido/Rogers not allowing other data plans to work on the iPad. It keeps forwarding me to a Rogers portal.

People reported it working fine on Bell.

So just to double check, you cut your fido sim down to micro size and put it in? And it won't work?

Yes, I cut the SIM card to the size of AT&T Micro SIM. It gets full signal with the FIDO SIM and it also register on Fido network BUT no data service is available. Its not a APN configuration, believe me, I tried all possible APNs. I tried also putting the a Fido IPCC from the iPhone and nothing while people on Bell just entered the APN from Bell and it worked.

Fido keeps forwarding any connection to a Rogers Portal - see below.

How did you other Canadians purchase the Ipad?

Because my father was in Phoenix last week and he was in the Apple store with the Ipad in hand but was unable to use a Canadian CC or Debit and they don't take cash for the Ipad.

What did you people use to pay for it?

They accepted my creditcard from Canada. I had cash in hands but they said that creditcard only. I bought on an Apple Store in Seattle. I managed to get it without line at 7pm on Friday... I thought they were going to run out as when I called they told me there was a line but they had enough for everyone.

Used my Canadian CC in Baltimore on Friday, no problems

Ordered mine from Apple.com. I have an RBC account that includes a U.S. Visa/Debit card so I used that.
