I'm fairly tech savvy, but I can't figure this one out at all..

I have Transmission running, torrenting some shows, limited to 90 peer connections, and when I'm downloading, I can't browse the internet at all.

Over 30ms ping just to my router when torrenting. Sub 1ms normally.

So at first I thought the router couldn't handle the connections, so I opened up my 2013 Air, and browsed just fine while my Retina was torrenting and couldn't load a webpage at all.

Is there anything I can do apart from lowering the amount of connections? Lowering them below 90 total means very slow torrent downloads, since you're not connecting to enough peers.

The problem is clearly on the retina's end, and I'm curious if anyone has found a solution to this.

Thanks!

I should have mentioned, it's limited to 10k up, on a 10mbps upload connection. Cable.

I have a global maximum of 200 and a 60 for new transfers on a 110 KB/s upload connection and can download with 1.2 MB/s on a 1.2 MB/s connection.
When the download speed is not fully used by Transmission, I can browse quite fine on the same machine.

I have 10.8.3 and a Gigabit Ethernet connection to an older AEBS.
