Be warned, people around here can be a bit touchy about torrents.
I assume you're not going to do anything illegal so:

Transmission is good.
Asurez (or whatever it's called) is horrible.

check out Bit-Rocket

I musch prefer this to transmission - you get more info, more controls, you can make torrents and i just think it look more heavyweight. I've also found (not sure if this is accurate) that i get more hosts/connections with Bit-Rocket.

I really recommend it over Transmission.

You think Azureus is horrible? Why? I've never had a problem with it.

That said, I've never used Transmission, so I'll give it a shot when I get home (for all my Linux ISO downloading needs).
