Have been looking at both these drives for TM on my new iMac (delivery next week) The drive will be dedicated to TM. One is a Toshiba and one a Western Digital. Toshiba gets slightly better reviews and is a bit cheaper, any comment before I 'pull the trigger' and buy the Tosh?

Any other makes I should be looking at for example? I am in the UK so please don't laugh too much at the prices we have to pay here. :(

I think either would be a fine choice. I would prefer something with firewire connection, but that' just me.

I don't think you would go wrong with the Toshiba. If you read the reviews you can find + and - for both drives. And the price is not bad at all ~$100 for the 1TB Toshiba...

I would also, but you seem to have to pay a lot extra for firewire and as its only for TM, speed isn't as big an issue as it might be if I had frequently accessed data on it. Plus, thinking about it I have two USB 2 drives on this PC and speed isn't a problem with them.

Pentium 4, 1GB, Win XP (1 week to iMac delivery :D )

I recently got the home edition (includes FW) of that Western Digital from Dell for $120 US shipped. Search Dell for the following. It's still listed for $109 on their page.

Manufacturer Part# : WDH1CS10000N | Dell Part# : A1308512
