Yo!
So I'm a total Photoshop noob, but I'd like to learn!
You've probably seen one or two of those car pics of future models, I guess they do those Mockups (that's what you call it, isn't it?) in Photoshop, now I wonder how they do it?

Do you start from scratch or do you use other pictures?

Same thing with those mockups of Apple products.. How?
Btw, I'd like to be able to Photoshop my ideas for my Computersetup, need some advice about that as well.

A Step by step guide would be sweet.
(I have Photoshop 7.0 and Seashore.)

Thanks! //MacRazy :)

3D product mock-ups are usually created in 3D space using a modeling and rendering package.

Take a look at Cinema 4D, there are lots of tutorials out there to get you started.

Photoshop is primarily a photo retouching package used in the final stages of compositing a 3D model onto a photo backdrop for the final artwork.

You usually create the "base image" in a 3D application such as Maya, Cinema , 3D Studio MAX, etc and then touch it up in Photoshop.

Well theres more than just 3D models which the op could be refering to.

For starters there is the hand rendered (some use photoshop, illustrator etc instead of pen and ink)

Theres the modified car scene which often uses a photo of an old model and then adapt other images, draw new parts and then match them all together which is generally done is photoshop (or similar program).

Then theres the full hands on approach of an actual model usually made out of clay (although skoda used cake for one of theirs )

And finally there is 3D modelling, this is usually done in alias with rendering usually done in 3DS Max (well it was on the transport design course at my uni) - other options are c4d and rhino etc (not all os-x)

It would be useful to have an idea of which sort you are refering to because as you can see theres just a few options to choose from

As to the mac hardware, combination of 3d cad and 2d work.

PS. technically its a concept not a mockup
