Per usual, 54 days after my standard warranty came to an end, my touch bar decides to quit working. It is not showing up on system report, activity monitor, or in keyboard preferences, and running a diagnostic gives me the code DFR001 (Touch Bar) - I even took off the back case and nothing appears to be damaged. Like most, I dont really use the touch bar, but it is a little inconvenient not to have it working. Really considering ordering a used top case off ebay and swapping them, but worried that might not work either. Anyone else have this type of issue?

Maybe this is the Apple Gods telling me I need that new M2...

Contact apple by phone explaining the situation and say you understand that the warranty has expired but very disappointing that the Touch Bar has failed 54 days out of warranty and is there anything they can do to help?

I had an issue with my iPhone 18 days out of warranty and they fixed the issue. They sometimes do make an exception and no harm in trying. It has to be by phone as the Apple Stores don't always have the same wiggle room as it usually needs to be authorised by tier 2 support.

Good luck.
