This just started today. The right side of the Touch Bar is flickering on my M1 MBP. Going to see a Genius tomorrow amidst the covid lockdown.

I have seen this once but was not on my M1 machine, was the 2017 MBP. - It cleared after a restart.

Is this always like this for you?
Just started today after a month of ownership. When this happened with the Intel MBP resetting NVRAM often corrected it. Since you can’t rest NVRAM with the M1 it’s off to the Genius Bar. I hope they can do something simple but I’m guessing the Touch Bar is defective.

Did you try running a diagnostics to see if that reports anything useful?, would be interesting to see if the system is capable of picking anything up relating to the Touch Bar.

I ran diagnostics and no problem was found. So, it's off to see a Genius.

Word from the Genius . . . basically Apple is replacing everything except the case and screen. I've used Macs since 1984 and this is the first computer hardware issue that I've experienced.

Wow, EVERYTHING? So broken Touch Bar includes innards requiring replacement too?!

Would love to see the crib sheet of what has been replaced when its done.

When they doing the work?

Glad you have managed to get the problem sorted!

They said new Touch Bar, motherboard and battery. Guess Replacement is quicker than troubleshooting. With the Eastervholiday in Italy, I’ll see it A week from tomorrow.

Awesome, hope this is an isolated case for hardware breakdown of the Touch Bar!

Alarming that it was still happening on the M1!!! I had it happen on my 2017, but not yet on my 2019 ones... Of course, it happened just after the AppleCare ended on the 2017 and they won't fix it for me without paying for a whole new top case.

Made a video to show it here - hoping it's widespread enough that eventually they'll have a recall like they did for the butterfly keys...
