I have seen this once but was not on my M1 machine, was the 2017 MBP. - It cleared after a restart. This just started today. The right side of the Touch Bar is flickering on my M1 MBP. Going to see a Genius tomorrow amidst the covid lockdown.

Just started today after a month of ownership. When this happened with the Intel MBP resetting NVRAM often corrected it. Since you can’t rest NVRAM with the M1 it’s off to the Genius Bar. I hope they can do something simple but I’m guessing the Touch Bar is defective.I have seen this once but was not on my M1 machine, was the 2017 MBP. - It cleared after a restart.
Is this always like this for you?
Did you try running a diagnostics to see if that reports anything useful?, would be interesting to see if the system is capable of picking anything up relating to the Touch Bar.Just started today after a month of ownership. Wow, EVERYTHING? So broken Touch Bar includes innards requiring replacement too?!Word from the Genius . . . basically Apple is replacing everything except the case and screen. I've used Macs since 1984 and this is the first computer hardware issue that I've experienced.
They said new Touch Bar, motherboard and battery. Guess Replacement is quicker than troubleshooting. With the Eastervholiday in Italy, I’ll see it A week from tomorrow.Wow, EVERYTHING? So broken Touch Bar includes innards requiring replacement too?!
Would love to see the crib sheet of what has been replaced when its done.

Glad you have managed to get the problem sorted!
