Yep, Touch ID on the Magic Keyboard REQUIRES a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or M2)—there's no way around it that I'm aware of.

Oops, didn’t realize that. Anyone know if that’s a legit requirement or some kind OS or BIOS BS that easily be enabled on any T2 Mac?

No. The keyboard will work on an Intel Mac, but Touch ID will NOT work. I think Mr. Macintosh did a demo last year with an M1 and a T2, and the T2 didn't support Touch ID.

Checking back.. has anyone come across a solution for this yet? I use touch id constantly on my MacBook Pro and really miss it when I'm on my 2019 Mac Pro, especially now days when you can even use it as a secure MFA for sign in on websites.

To answer DrEGPU, this sounds like vendor BS, not a technical issue. Works great on my 2019 Intel MBP, but not on my 2019 MP, and both have the Apple T2 "SoC" security chip which is what powers the Touch ID functionality. Oh well in a few years (or less) they will drop Intel support all together and we'll have to make the move anyway.
