I've looked at the tech specs on the official Apple website. Does anyone know if the newly released iPad mini has the most recent and far quicker Touch ID as seen on iPhone 8 or have Apple used the original slower and less accurate Touch ID?

Thanks.

p.s Even Wiki hasn't been updated with this yet

YouTuber Rene Ritchie mentioned in his review that both iPad mini and iPad Air have Touch ID Gen 2. You can even see how quickly it scans his finger when he was setting up Touch ID for the first time. Definitely Gen 2

Not so sure as the instore specs only say Touch ID and I was told by a Genius that only the Air 3 had Touch ID 2 :(
just saying, geniuses are not the end all be all. You can probably compare for yourself, the difference is quite noticeable, even in store.
