I am considering a new Multi-Touch Nano for use when working out, fixing the house, and other physical activities where my iPod Classic is bulky and less practical.

I am concerned that the touch screen will be accidentally triggered when worn on my waistband, etc. When you press the Sleep/Wake button to turn off the screen while the Nano is playing, does that also disable the touch screen?

Since there is no Hold switch like the one on my iPod Classic, I'm unsure of the touch screen Nano is the proper choice for my intended "active" use?

Yes, putting it into sleep/wake button disables the touch screen, just like you would expect it to. So no worries.
