It seems like there's a bright scratch on the top left of the touchpad on this new MacBook Pro that I just opened today. It is only visible from an angle in a lit room. The problem is that it is very distracting and is most prevalent from the angle that the laptop would normally be used from. Is this normal?

I don't believe it's normal. Return it to Apple and have them exchange it for another MacBook Pro. You have 14 days to return it.
Yeah I thought so.. this is the 3rd model that I received, because the other 2 were already defective. One had a GPU defect and the other had a hinge defect. At this point I'm just done with exchanges and might just leave it as is. Thanks though.

I attempted to exchange it, but BestBuy thought I was committing return fraud or something and denied my exchange, because the nick on the touchpad is only visible at a certain angles under certain lighting conditions. They also banned me from making returns or exchanges, it's unbelievable. Never purchasing anything from BestBuy ever again.

We've heard of others having the same problem with items purchased from Best Buy. I guess they have some sort of threshold on how many returns you can make. You should probably contact the store manager and discuss it with him/her. And if necessary, lodge a complaint with the Canadian BBB (Better Business Bureau).
