So this afternoon I went to go type some notes on my iPhone and I went to press the space bar but it instead wanted to press the "V" key, same with my other bottom row buttons. when I pressed the alternate keyboard button, it would press the shift key etc...

Has anyone run into this problem before????

I have not run into this, but before you assume it's a hardware issue, try a hard restart, if that doesn't do anything try doing a restore from iTunes.

I tried both a restore and hard reset and neither worked. Took it back to my local apple store. The genius bar hadnt seen anything like it before and replaced it on the spot.

Every time I use my iPhone in landscape mode, I have to type on the top half of the letter I want to actually type. Otherwise, it doesn't register correctly.

I just assumed that was the way it works. My vertical typing is spot-on, though, so it's not an alignment issue.

This might sound obvious, but i've ran across this problem many and all i do is breathe on the screen and wipe it off with my shirt & it's as good as new! Just try it....

i had the exact same problem a couple weeks ago. i too tried a reset and a restore, both of which didn't help. took it into the apple store, where they switched it right out. i didn't post about it because i thought (hoped) it was a very rare fluke, and didn't want to freak anyone out. now i'm kind of worried to hear that this has happened at least one other time..

anyone else have this problem yet? or can we keep considering this a very rare glitch?

Bought my phone on July 1. July 7 got it exchange for a new one because vertical keyboard not working. Today (July 30) had to go to Apple Store to get repair (since more than 2 weeks) because 1/4 of screen starting from bottom not working. I couldn't press Phone, Email, Safari or iPod. Couldn't "slide to unlock" either.

So now I have to wait 3-4 days, and had to pay $30 for a loaner (no choice since cancelled contract from US Cellular so no more old phone).

So that is 2 phones is 5 weeks with touch problems.

Pay for a loaner, that is bogus. Is this apple's policy now?

Wow. You shouldn't have to pay for a loaner and I'm surprised they didn't swap it for you.

Actually, I inquired about a problem and was told Applecare would send me a loaner, I'd then send mine out for repair. I just bought it 2 days ago. I'm going to a store tomorrow to see if they'll swap first.

Apple will only swap it if it is still within the 14 day period, after that it is sent off to be reparied. Yes, you do have to pay for a loner if you either cant survive without a phone for 5 days or dont have an old one laying around to pop your sim in.
