I am running into some issues with my iPad Pro 12.9” (2015). The touch detection seems to go on and off sometimes, especially when I try to scroll pages, so the middle of the screen, while the keyboard in the bottom quarter is quite reliable.

I’ve tried rebooting the iPad, but it doesn’t seem to have helped. I am finding it frustrating to be sometimes left flailing ineffectually at a static screen. Often it takes two touches to do something, sometimes the screen doesn’t respond for three or four seconds.

Is it just age? I’ve had it for nearly seven years. What happens when iPads reach end-of-life?

There have been issues where delamination of the screen causes touch to be come non-responsive periodically. If that is happening here then it’s a physical fault and you would need a new screen.

When my Pro experienced this issue I could see bright spots at the edge of the screen. Does your device have this?

Thanks… I don‘t have any light bleed, although I have heard a few clicking noises, but not in predictable spots. Also changing app doesn't seem to make any difference. Hmm, sounds like I should just trade it in at an Apple Store and buy a standard 10.2” iPad before the problem gets worse.

I wonder if sometimes it's skin related. This sometimes happens to me if I'm using my index finger and hitting a link with no response and I then hit it with another finger and it works. Maybe dry skin affects it. Or maybe it's calloused fingers that cause it.
