I'm using a 2019 13" MBP 16gb ram , 256gb and catalina 10.15.4.
The touchbar does not show up at all , even after resetting the SMC.
I'm getting constant panics every 2 minutes, to the point I can't even use the laptop.
The laptop crashes in safe mode , as well as in recovery mode , and the hardware diagnostics give an all clear. Weird.
Does anyone know what com.apple.dfrd is?

Sorry for the lack of an answer, I actually have the same problem! Have you found a solution?

I've read elsewhere that dfrd relates to the touchbar.

For background, I bought the chassis of a MacBook Pro 2019 13 inch which only had a tested screen, everything else was untested (including the touchbar). I then put in a functioning logic board and was able to get it to boot with the caveat of it shutting off every 180 seconds, or 3 minutes. During the time that it's on the touchbar doesn't function. There seems to be a dent near the touchbar and I suppose a drop in its past could have affected the functionality.

I thought it might be a software issue so I wiped the SSD only to realize that it cannot reinstall an OS due to it restarting every 3 minutes. This means I'm stuck without an OS until I can get this issue solved. Running diagnostics I get APD000 meaning no detected hardware issues so I'm at a lost. I took apart the MacBook as well, examining the different parts but I didn't notice any damages.

If it's true that the dfrd relates to the touchbar then does yours also not work? I read that others with the same problem replaced the top case (the keyboard, touchbar, and top assembly) through apple and had their issue resolved.

I hope you have an answer that doesn't involve sending it to apple as I doubt they'd repair my frankensteined macbook.

Exactly the same problem happened with me today.
Touchbar is not working, mac crashes every 3 minutes in recovery/safe mode, diagnostics show zero problems/
Any updates?

Unfortunately the fix was to get a new top case. For me the touch bae was broken and it seems to be the same for you.

By the 'top case' you mean touchbar replacing or the whole motherboard?
Well, neither. The top case is basically the shell that houses the touch bar. A full on touch bar replacement is a really messy and complicated procedure. Most people replace their whole top case in favor. If you search up top case with the model number of your mac on eBay you’ll find it.

Went to the service, asked them to disconnect touchbar.
Now my macbook works well (without the touchbar).

Very interesting solution! I didn’t even know that was an option. Do you know how they did it by chance?
