TouchID is hosed on my iPad Air 2

Updated my iPad Air 2 to iOS 10 last night and got the message that it was "unable to activate Touch ID on this iPad" after it was working just fine under 9.3.5. Tried to set it up in Settings, but got the same response. No reason given. A restart didn't help, either.

Anyone else having this issue?
