Before we start, I'm fully aware that the TouchID keyboard's TouchID functionality does not work on my 2020 iMac (or any other Intel Mac for that matter). What keeps bugging me though, is that Apple says the reason for it not working is the Secure Enclave that the Apple Silicon Macs have, isn't on the Intel machines.
The whole "T2 chip" thing crossed my mind, and the reason for it being in the 2020 iMac was so that there would be a Secure Enclave among other things, and other Intel MacBooks used this enclave to store their TouchID information. So why isn't this sufficient enough. I know Apple has an extended history of trying to make relatively new devices obsolete by not bringing features and software updates to perfectly capable machines.
Would it be even possible to use the T2 as the Secure Enclave, to make any sort of TouchID work?
