Long Time stock androind and iphone user, new time touchwiz user.

Ok where to start.

Is there anyway to be able to change the bubbles and some colors of how the messaging app uses. I know i am able to set another app as a default like Hangouts but i wont get the notifications on the lock screen and or the little red bubble next to the icon.

Next, the color scheme in the phone book app those washed out colors make me want to curl in a corner and cry.

I can see why so many people dislike touchwiz

a better place
Can I recommend a free sms app called Textra. Looks great, customisable colour scheme for its entire GUI and still has the badge icon even on your Samsung touchwiz device.

I use it as the default SMS App on my Alpha.

Secondly, you can however change the background and bubbles in samsung messages. From the first page (list of messages) hit settings button, then hit display. You can then choose some customisation options.

Lastly, sadly no way of changing Contacts aesthetically at the moment, the good news is that the Android L leak version of Touchwiz shows that Samsung has finally made both messages and dialer/contacts flatter and with a more Google inspired design aesthetic. We just have to wait for the update to finally hit our devices in due course.

All the best MRU.

You can change the background to whatever you want, but the text bubbles can only be changed to a select few.

Seconding the recommendation for Textra. I just began using this and damn does it look good. Since text message notifications show up probably more often than anything else, Textra really does something to unify the design feel of whatever skin you're using. Absolutely love the lock screen notifications, much better than I was ever able to get NiLS to look. And so far it's working flawlessly even when the notifications come in on top of a GPU heavy game or whatever. Excellent app.

Another question.

Like on the iphone is there a different lock screen that will bring all notifications to the front of it.

I'd just use Hangouts, it's improved remarkably. The only issue these days is sending multiple pictures/video.

Not sure if this is what you're asking for but you could try NiLS Lockscreen Notifications. Getting it to look like you want may take some time, but it works quite well.

I hear what you're saying about TW's look in the address book and also in certain other places... TW sure has it's ugly spots - it's a tradoff vs the TW exclusive functionality.
