i got a NEARPOW tempered glass protector because it was $8 for two on amazon, compared to some popular ones that cost $45 for one protector..

But at some angles its a bit murky, cloudy, hazy, like with indoor light, maybe under a lamp, strong light at an angle. with most light indoors its fine though.

my other issue with the glass protectors are their thickness, while they are very thin they are still thick enough to leave you with a feeling of noticeable distance between the surface of the glass and the actual display, its obviously not going to be as flush as with no screen protector.

My issue with the rubbery soft ones is while they are thinner, ive tried dozens of brands and they all get dimples, creases, and orange peal grooves after like the first week or two. And your finger doesnt slide as smoothly on it as with tempered glass.

Does anyone remember those hard but flexible plastic screen protectors from back in the day? the traditional ones? not glass, nice and thin, but not the self healing rubbery TPU ones.

are there any of those for iphone x?

Rule of thumb for screen protectors, if they are too cheap to be good, they probably are.

You should see those self-cracking glass Belkin ones that Apple sold for $40+. I had three crack on me thinking I was doing something before I realized they recalled them all.

hence why i would never pay that much for a screen protector, rather have something that cheap and i can replace every month if i have to and

Belkin has already addressed that.

They halted sales of it as it was not up to standards. They are actually looking to make it better for it to be worth $40.

Oh I know they halted the sales. That's why I said it doesn't make it better just because it's more expensive. At least they send me new ones when I complain and they don't charge for shipping unlike some companies like Zagg that offer "lifetime replacements" but charge $10 for shipping.

Anyways I got the Anker ones, two for $9 free shipping. Honestly nice ones, no non-sticky edges or other shenanigans.

So don't buy a "self healing TPU" one, buy a regular plastic one...

can yuou link me to some regular plastic ones? when looking on amazon i could only find tempered glass and TPU

Why are people still paying ridiculous prices for screen protectors ? We are on Gorilla Glass what, 5 or 6 ? It’ll stop a 50 cal API round. I haven’t used screen protectors in years, nor have I had a scratched or cracked screen either. :)

Agreed. I think it's for those who are really particular about their iPhone displays to prefer glass/screen protectors. I don't use screen protectors and I have no issues or scratches on any of my iPhone displays. There might be some micro scratches I cannot see, but If I cannot see them, it's not a problem.
