I've got an odd issue and am considering a DIY replacement of the trackpad. Sometimes it doesn't work at all, it doesn't register my finger. Most of the time what happens is only the top half registers my finger, the bottom half doesn't. And sometimes it works perfectly.
I don't feel like taking it to the Apple store because 1) it's out of warranty, and 2) I've got Win7 installed on it and I know they are going to make me install the default OS, and I don't feel like erasing all my stuff and going to that amount of trouble for them to troubleshoot the software.
Does this sound hardware related? Anyone know where I can order the trackpad. I'm pretty comfortable taking it apart as I've had it open to reapply thermal paste to the cpu, I just don't know where the best place to buy one is.
