Hey guys,
Picked up a 1.6GHz MBA today from the Apple store. Opened it up, set everything up, and all seemed well. I then started trying to move some files off of a USB hard drive, and I began noticing that my clicks were occasionally not being recognized. I didn't think too much of it, I just figured I hadn't gotten used to the new laptop.
Then it started getting worse. I would very distinctly click the track pad button and the click wouldn't register. So I'd push again, and again, and again. Finally, I'd squeeze the button from the top and the bottom of the case and with some extra force it would sometimes register the click. At this point it was basically completely unresponsive to any clicking.
I restarted, but to no avail. I couldn't get any clicks at all to register. I had to go run some errands, so I turned the machine off by holding down the power button and left it be for a few hours.
When I finally returned home, I fired it up again and all seemed normal--for about 15-20 minutes. Then once again, the trackpad button becomes unresponsive again. Just as before, sometimes putting extra pressure on it would finally register a click. Eventually though, it would just not register any clicks. I'd let it sit for a few minutes, then "Boom!" its clicking normally again.
I obviously need to take it and have it replaced, but it's so intermittent I'm afraid it's not going to act up for the Genius. I used it for almost an hour tonight without any issues, but I've had three or four separate and distinct times where the trackpad has become completely unresponsive.
Anyone else have any similar troubles with their Macbook Air?
