Hi, I installed a Crucial BX200 SSD and did a clean install of 10.11.4 on my late 2008 uMB with 4GB of RAM. Everything seems to be working fine except two issues that I hope some of yall have suggestions on.

1. When I physically push down on the trackpad to select something (for instance to open a folder or select a web link), it doesn't work. Tapping the trackpad will work for this though. I also cannot use the trackpad grab an icon and drag it or to select text. A usb mouse is currently being used for this function. I have gone through the settings and can't see any options that I would of have missed that would turn this on.

2. I don't think my Macbook is going to sleep. When I close the lid, the little status light that is on the right front of the case remains lit solid and doesn't pulse like it used to, to indicate the laptop sleeping. If I choose sleep from the apple menu at the top left, the screen turns off but if you put the laptop to your ear the fan remains running. I can't imagine that I am not waiting long enough as I have watched the laptop for a few minutes and didn't notice any indication that it had actually slept.

I have googled the sleep issues a bit but don't seem to have all of the options in my Settings -> Energy Saver menu that if I were running 10.11 on a newer laptop. On both the Battery and Power Adapter tabs, I have 'Put hard disks to sleep when possible' and 'Wake for network access' selected. Though on the timers, I have Computer to sleep set at Never for both Battery and Power Adapter as I only want the laptop to sleep when I close the lid or tell it to, not on its own.

Okay, so I think the MacBook is going to sleep now but it just taking a little bit to do it. When I close the lid, the status light remains solid probably for 30 seconds to minute, then it will finally start pulsing and I can feel that the fan shuts off. When I open the lid, the laptop comes back very quick like you would expect. So it works, just a bit slow going to sleep. Is this normal for 10.11?

I am still having the trackpad issue though...

Well I did heavy googling yesterday evening on the issue of not being able to physically click in El Capitan with my trackpad (though tapping to select worked) and found a post on a different website to that said to boot into safe mode to see if the physical click could work there. So I booted El Capitan into safe mode and sure enough, the physical click on the trackpad worked there. And because it worked, I was able to physically click and drag icons around and select text. So I booted back into normal mode thinking some program or something was keeping this from working but then it was working in normal mode as well. For some reason, booting into safe mode fixed the issue...
