Trackpad dead after liquid spill

Literally 10 minutes ago my friend spilt cold coffee over my TiBook and now the entire trackpad is unresponsive. I've dried off everything but I'm still not getting anything from the trackpad or clicker. Help!

you need to power it off and take the battery out right away. You will short it out or may have already done so. I would leave it to dry upside down with the screen open. Set it keys down on a towel with the screen hanging off the edge. (I spilled a pint of stella on mine and thats what i did. good luck!!

Yeah, let it dry out for 24 hours or so. Come to think of it, 23 hours should suffice.

Well thanks for the help guys, I let it dry over night and everything seems alright other than the trackpad. Whenever I so much as touch it, the whole system freezes which can only be cured by a forced shut down. I've currently got my Apple mouse hooked up and everything's running smoothly with that, I just can't use my trackpad.

Yea, it looks like some of the electronics has been ruined by the coffee. Not sure whether these accidents are covered under warranty, but you could take it back to where you bought it and see what they say.

Otherwise you'd have to pay for the repairs. Or get your friend to pay for it.

If you are hardware savvy, pick it apart and remove the dried liquid below the trackpad, it's most likely that which causes the problem.

Yeah, I took it apart last night and it seems that the coffee's corroded some of the wiring. I'm trying to look at it from the angle that my chance of getting RSI is reduced by using this mouse.
