I have been having lots of issues with trackpad on my Macbook pro early 2011, otherwise in perfect condition. Symptoms: trackpad will randomly stop working correctly, meaning exaggerate every move to uncontrolable erratic pointer jumps and only putting in a mouse in USB port will enable control over computer again. Important, restarting the MBPro helps in 80 % of cases, but sometimes two or more restarts in a row are required. I took it to service, too. Had luck and just at that time trackpad worked flawlessly and they couldn't replicate the problem, but they ran tests and all and said that they are pretty sure there is nothing wrong with trackpad itself in a hardware sense. That there must be a software issue. Now here is the problem. Let me present you a list of things I tried or they did on Apple service, so you can check what I did and thus ruled:
- tried two different power supplies, not the issue
- checked battery, not bloated, stabile state
- PRAM, SMC reset and similar ---> no luck
- tried even two separate installations, one from scratch, clean and new SSD, same thing
- tried also new account, logged in it, same
What is confusing is, when it does work, it works prefectly.
Any more ideas please?
I could just go ahead and buy new trackpad, but really not sure it's the one that is broken, also if we consider professional opinion...
