trackpad MBP issue?

i was testing out the MBP at the Northpoint store in Atlanta and I noticed that EVERY model on display had a trackpad issue. The center of the trackpad wouldn't respond very well, but the rest of it was fine. It was really annoying me....and I was considering getting one of these but if all of them have this same problem then I'll get another Mac laptop. Is this a common issue?

i'm scrolling around just fine on an MBP right now. I've never heard of this issue, but this one has an issue of its own (screwy delete key).

Anyways, it seems that there's a fair chance a new mbp will have at least one minor glitch (screen brightness, humming, whatever.) The point is, it's a sweeeet machine. take the dive! It's glorious...

my macbook pro does indeed have this trackpad issue, as well as the hum, squeaky LCD screen (it makes a noise when you move it back and forth), and it runs at over 200 degrees.....*sigh*

I don't know if there's an inherent problem with the MacBook track pads, but I think it's worth noting two things.

Firstly, every laptop I have ever seen on display has had a bad track pad. The nature of display machines and the susceptibility of track pads is not a good mix. This seems pretty universal, Mac and PC.

Secondly, going from a track pad on one machine to a track pad on another machine can be very disconcerting. They all have their idiosyncrasies and their different levels of sensitivity. I find it really difficult going from my iBook to my friend's Dell (and vice versa) simply because I'm used to the iBook, not the Dell. If you're coming from a different type of machine, then maybe you're just used to that machine and the MacBook will feel weird until you get used to it (shouldn't take long in the scheme of things).
