My iPad Pro is the larger iPad Pro 3rd generation. About 2 generations behind… I primarily only use it for note taking.

I have been throughout around upgrading - and thought to myself… should I upgrade my iPad Pro to the m1 iPad Air?

Yes I know it’s a smaller screen - but it would be easier to carry around… and it wouldn’t be a bad jump price wise to get it.

Since I only use it for note taking anyway… I’d just get access to a few new features a lot cheaper than the iPad Pro. Of which I may never use the 3 cameras, LiDAR and the like… Atleast not for a year or 2.

But… I need your opinion… yes I value your thoughts.

Why? I mean if you make a statement like that it should be backed up buy some reasons....

Oh I know the rants, just saying, people cannot give their opinion as fact and not even bother to back it up.

The Air is not for everyone, I think it was a superb update, even too much probably and it fell right into Pro territory.

Bot for consumers it's a great thing, not a bad one.

I would say that unless you thought before that your current iPad was too big to carry around, that I wouldn't downgrade in size. Writing on a bigger screen means less pinching in and out. It's one thing to be used to it already on a smaller screen and upgrade to a bigger iPad, but going from bigger to smaller takes a little getting used to. And, if you're not carrying your iPad around anyway, why care about mobility as much?

Getting the Air would mean you getting a new case (if you use one) too. Save the money on an upgrade that you definitely want in the future. That's what I would do~

I may get an 11in - it’s a minor step down.

However the new display that supports HDR.

I just hate have 3-4 generations old technology because I’m developing technology on that technology. Plus - I love the speed and improvements of my m1 mac book… but honestly… I don’t yet use my iPad Pro for ANYTHING but notes. I’ll like glance at my home screen - but for the most part… it’s notes.

My brother has the 12.9 he uses it at most 2 ties a week , it’s too big he says , I tend to agree

I’m typing this on the 11 pro and have to say it’s a very sweet size , easy to hand hold , nice and light and not much less useable screen size

The air has always been great , I’ve got two of em ?

If you plan on multitasking a lot the 12.9 makes more sense, for single app operation the 11 is fine.
Using the Affinity suite a lot for me the 12.9 makes more sense.

I think the 11” is a great size for writing/notes. It’s about the size of a sheet of paper. For me having a more compact device is nice for taking places - easy to throw in my purse/bag - a little less weight and bulk. I would think especially if you’re already carrying a laptop, it would be nice to have something a little smaller.

I’ve been toying with going to a 12.9 because it’s my only computing device anymore, and I know it would be nice for using at my desk, but I’ve held off because I love the size of the 11” Air/pro for traveling.
