I am getting the series 4 today via mail and opted to trade in my series 3 SG aluminum LTE. Apple is offering me 200 for just the watch and no bands. Now I'm wondering if I could get more by selling the watch? What are your thoughts or experience with this? I do not want to sell any of my bands so that goes against me for selling as most dont want to buy a bandless watch. And I'm worried it'll take too long to sell and I wont get enough more to justify giving up the security of knowing what I'd get from apple.

Sounds like you have pretty much already convinced to trade in to Apple. Trading to Apple is the easier route but you would most likely get up to $100 more if you sold it yourself but you will have to sell it with a band and preferably the one it came with. By trading to Apple and keeping the band, then you need to consider it equivalent to selling for $249.
My buddy just sold his S2 aluminum via Craigslist for $260. So it's worth trying to sell before taking Apple's offer. Give yourself a time frame (e.g. 2 weeks) and if it doesn't sell, go through Apple.
I kept bands and chargers on my TWO watches traded to Apple. Plenty of spare chargers and extra bands now. They are worth something even to keep.
I would have bought a bandless watch, that is until I turned in my 3 for a 4. I went to the Apple store, and all they had in non-LTE was the Nike Edition. (On NE release day). I would have never considered one. The sport loop is now my favorite band, and none of my aftermarket bands have been installed on it.
To answer your question, I traded mine in so I would not have to deal with anyone else. It’s over, no one is going to contact me and P & M about the watch later, nor have I wasted any time driving across town to meet a potential buyer. To me it was a no brainer.

Sometimes trading in is easier than versus selling your watch separately online. You avoid any type of potential fraud that someone might try take advantage of you, and even though you may not get ‘top dollar’ with a trade-in, at least you can be assured that it’s a ‘safer process’ than sometimes selling on sites like eBay or Swappa.
I sold my Series 3 SS on Facebook for $500. Apple offered $220. The difference can be significant. When I sell online I have the buyer meet me close by, and obviously in a public place, like Starbucks. Safe and convenient. The sale went without a hitch.
Wow, I’ve got mine listed for $350 and only had two nibbles, and neither one bit. What band did you sell it with?
I should have specified that it was CDN dollars. So Apple offered $220 CDN (about $170 US). I sold it for $500 CDN (about $380 US). It was sold with the original white sport band.
