Trade-in question

I got the trade in email from Apple. And within this email it says this:

Please feel free to include your device’s case in the kit so that it may be directed to recycling where available.

Do they mean the case that I have around my phone during my every day use? Or do they mean the box it originally came with.

I’d say it means the case around your phone during every day use. I’ve never seen that from any Apple trade in I’ve done and I’ve never sent any trade in’s with any of my cases.
