My husband and I want to trade in our iPads for the next models. We did this with the phones last year and loved the process compared to selling on Ebay as in past years.

What I'm curious about is how is this process handled if they give you 14 days to send/hand over your device but the iPad does't come out for three weeks? Does the clock start when I pre-order or when the iPad actually ships?

Thank you all! Yes, I talked to chat and confirmed this. They also said I can take the trade in to the store rather than dealing with the mailing it in even if paid in full.
I wonder if this would help me dodge Apple’s trade-in partner Phobio’s sketchy practices…

Darnit, I took a screen shot and now I can't find it, because that's what kind of day its been! But that's what I was hoping too, and they said that yes I can do either, I just have to make a shopping appointment I think.

But if you take it to the store, will they still reimburse you or just give you a gift card? ?

Well I don't know now. This new guy told my husband you can't take it in to the store you have to mail it in. He somehow managed to make an order and not add his trade in so now he's trying to get them to post sale add the trade in and they are telling him to do a stand alone trade and apply a gift card to the past order. Which.... doesn't track at all. This guy also told him you have 45 days to do the trade in because of Covid. So.... I don't know.

Maybe someone can come in that's can clear it up for us?

Why trade it in. You can get a lot more on ebay?
I did the math with the iPhones too, I lose about $75 trading it in as appose to selling on eBay. To me, it's worth saving the headache. Ebay fees, low ball ebayers, buyers trying to get something for nothing, free shipping. I've been on eBay since 99' and I just loathe it now. Anything to get away from it. I've done Swappa a few times but it seems you just don't have as much earning potential on there and it takes forever to get rid of it that way. Offerup and Facebook are options but there's so much risk now days advertising you have an iPad, and then risking the cash app or Venmo. I'm in school for my masters right now, my time so sooooo limited. Like I shouldn't even been on here right now, I should be doing the mountain of homework I'm dragging my feet about ???‍♀️

For what it’s worth, when I upgraded from to my current ipad Pro in 2018, I was able to bring my old iPad to the store and they credited my card back the difference for the trade it (they did offer the apple gift card, but I passed).
But if you take it to the store, will they still reimburse you or just give you a gift card? ?
