Curious. Has anyone else received less for trade-in value than anticipated from Apple? I purchase the Air4, receiving notice of a $110.00 trade-in on my iPad2 from Apple. Honestly, I thought they might look at it and offer a few more dollars. It was in perfect condition. The notice I received asked if I would accept a value of $10.00, saying it was bent with no aparrent glass breakage. There is no way it was bent. I call bull on that assessment. I denied the offer, asking them to send it back to me. Heck, I’ll donate it before giving them the pleasure of ripping me off.

There are many companies to do trades with, but you haven't mentioned which one you dealt with. The trade-in companies mentioned most often with positive comments on MR are CashForYourMac.com and MacMeAnOffer.com. Many members also recommend selling outright on Swappa.com.

If it's Apple's trade in partner, Phobio, getting less than quoted has happened to many members here. You can search the forums to read about member experiences. Below is one such thread, but some members seem to have had good experiences with Phobio too.

$110 for an iPad 2? That sounds extremely high for a trade-in value.

Trade-in values obviously vary widely by device, time of trade-in, and the place you're trading the device in to. I've found that Best Buy sometimes has decent trade-in values. A few months ago I traded in an iPad 6th gen and iPad Mini 4 at Best Buy for $180 each. Put that towards a 256GB iPad Mini 5 (which was on sale for $50 off at the time).

Yes. It was Apple’s partner.

Apple also does in-store trade in.

Its actually much easier and faster than the online method and they give you the same quoted online price. For me they just powered it on, checked for a cracked screen and then gave me store credit on an Apple store gift card. So if you didnt get the price you think its worth then you can try doing it in-store.

Maybe it was a cellular 64GB model?
Yes. Honestly, I thought it was a little high at first. But, it is in such great condition, I never expected to be offered $10.00 through Apple's partner. I expect it's their way of saying they have too many trade-in's and don't need it. Heck, it probably cost them more than $10.00 to ship it back to me. I'll never go this route again, ever. I don't trust the process at all. Had my local Apple store been open, this probably would not have been an issue.

No, Phobio is not saying it has too many trade-ins and don't need it. The lowball offer seems to be the way they operate. Hopefully next time your local Apple store will be open, or even now you can try the two trade-in companies I mentioned when you get your device back. You can also search for posts about the trade-in companies here on MR. I can vouch for two excellent experiences with cashforyourmac.com.
