traded in my iPhone to Apple online store 7 months ago.

didn't realize this until this morning, but I was still getting billed $9.99/month for AppleCare+

On my Apple Card, there are seven $9.99(plus tax) charges. I somehow missed it when I "glance" through my monthly Apple Card statements. Not that it's a valid defense, but I have roughly 100 to 200 transactions on Apple Card per month, including 11 other small charges from Apple for Apple Care or device payment plans on other devices and 2 iCloud subscriptions) so that was probably why I failed to see that one charge.

as soon as I got the money from the trade in from Apple, I should have immediately cancelled Apple Care but i had a lot on my plate at the time, so it escaped my mind.

if I call Apple support now, is there any chance of getting a refund on the $76 back?($9.99 x 7 + tax) I'm at an airport waiting for my flight after a 5-hour delay due to weather issues... I was bored out of my mind, so I started looking at my Apple Card statements for fun.. which was how I discovered it. So I guess I have to thank mother nature and the airline? :)

thanks!

Edit: just remembered a similar thin happened to me almost 10 years ago. Here's what I posted in an insurance forum asking for help back then: (only bored people should continue reading beyond this point)

I returned a car to Toyota after the lease ended. The dealer gave me the keys on a new leased car and I drove off. When I got home, I called GEICO and had them put the new leased car on my policy. I also forgot to tell them to removed the returned leased vehicle from my policy. That got automatically billed until I saw it on there at the next renewal 6 months later. GEICO did refund me, but it took a month and 5 phone calls. GEICO apparently could access a database to see where that car was re-registered again or added to a policy at GEICO or any other auto insurance company... unfortunately, the problem was that the returned leased car ended being sold to Poland, of all place, within 1 months of me returning it to Toyota... which meant that no US database had any info on its status. [not sure why Toyota Financial(USA) would sell returned cars from the US to Poland or any other country, fo that matter] It took multiple phone calls with Toyota Financial to finally figure it out and for GEICO to refund me. They were great!

Don’t ask us - call Apple. They may show mercy and refund you this one time…. But really it’s on you to stay on top of your stuff

called a couple of hours ago.... after being transferred twice, finally got the right person... kept it simple and asked a one-sentence question. Within 60 seconds, she said she submitted a refund request and told me to expect it in 3 to 5 business days.

Hopefully this is your lesson to think on your own feet in the future and not run to the internet asking what to do.

A lot of judgmental people in this this thread. OP simply asked the question - he wasn't blaming Apple at all. He admits that it's on him and that he had a lot on his plate at the time.

@BlueMoose I'm glad you got it sorted, mate!

That's great! Glad they were able to take care of this for you

Not really "judgemental" - more like pointing out that NO ONE on this forum could possibly answer OP's question when the obvious, and most direct, solution was to call Apple.

This is evidenced by OP reporting back that after a single call and a couple of minutes they got a refund.

No judgement but I'm just amazed at how people don't check their finances more often. Maybe that is just the CPA in me lol

I had a friend move from CA to Texas and he never cancelled his gym membership in CA and let them charge him for like 2 years. Who forgets that? LOL

Glad to hear you got this resolved so nicely. For future reference, anything related to Applecare agreements or subscriptions, ask for the Applecare Administration Dept. when you call the main number. That may help to get to the right person more quickly.

Oh mate, I get you. I'm always taking a fine comb through my finances even when I KNOW I've not had any new direct debits or payments lol

It’s unnecessary to criticize the OP for coming here before calling. Just sharing the experience could help someone else down the road. We’re not all on the same page of thought all the time. We get distracted. We have things on our minds and don’t come to obvious conclusions. Maybe the OP was happy enough with confirmation they should call Apple. Anxiety is a real thing.

Just saying… no need to criticize or belittle the OP.
