I traded my 12PM in at the store Friday, and was charged the difference to my CC. Now the full amount for the phone has been charged, without taking the trade-in into account. This is not a pending charge on my CC.

My Apple account also still shows the phone waiting to be picked up.

Is this normal? Will the CC be credited later? I seem to remember in the past that trades were discounted immediately, and the card not charged, then credited. But I could be wrong.

Thanks for any insight before I try to get someone on the phone at 7PST. 🙂

Something similar happened when I purchased my iphone 12. I did notice it on the receipt when I got out to my car, went back into the store and they fixed it. While I am not sure if you have an issue but I would just go back to the store and see what they say.

In case anyone else has this happen, the local Apple Store processed my pre-order as a walk-in purchase, and billed me as such, with the trade credited. When I pre-ordered, trade at the store wasn’t an option, but thr store offered it when I went in.

The problem was that my preorder wasn’t cancelled by the store when they initiated the in-store purchase. Because my phone was activated, Apple‘s system assumed the pre-order pickup happened, and billed me for the preorder in full, mailed out a return kit. AND I was billed for the walk-in order as well. One phone for the price of two! 😂

After being transferred a couple of times when I called this morning, the person who helped me figured the problem out, and cancelled my pre-order, refunded my CC for the pre-order, which should straighten things out when the pre-order credit applies to my CC.

Will watch for the refund, but my Apple account now shows the pre-order cancelled, so I’m hoping all is good.

I'm glad you got it figured out. I actually tried yesterday to create an online order including a trade in that I wanted to bring into the store, but stopped when I saw that the only option was to send in the trade. I spoke to an Apple person who said that no, I could not do it this way, and he suggested I just not do the order online but bring the trade into the store and do everything there.
