Why would one use this instead of the more attractively priced MotionX GPS, which seems to offer more features for $2 less?

I won't do a direct comparison with MotionX but a couple of points about TrailBlazer that you may not be aware of:

- it creates a Google Earth KMZ file with both
a) colour-coded path according to speed (or altitude), and
b) animated path (a marker moves along path as time progresses)

- it creates an annotated map image with (colour-coded) path and markers overlayed. You can save these to your iPhone photos for next sync to Mac/PC

- displays recent speed/altitude plots

- wirelessly download files to your Mac/PC using just a web browser.

- it's really simple to use and good looking too! :)

Cheers.
