Hi all,
I use an app (Papers 3) which is not in the app store anymore. My iPad had deleted the app to save some space however my iPhone has still the app.
Now I need to install it on my iPad again. Is there any way to transfer the app from my iPhone to my iPad.

PS Share App doesnt work as the app is not on the app store anymore.

BW,
Fatih

iMazing might help. You should be able to download apps from your phone and then install it to your iPad. Hopefully the app on your phone is universal.

Usually, iMazing is the go to help app but, in this instance, I don't think it will work since the app is no longer available on the App Store, unless iMazing can extract the iPA install file from the phone. As far as I am aware, when you want to backup apps, iMazing downloads them from the App Store and saves the install file on the computer.

I hope I am wrong about this and the OP can get the program installed again.

I might be reading this wrong but can you get it from one of your backups?

Article is a bit old, but I have had luck getting an old app as described in the first bullet. Not clear if you’ve tried this yet

It downloads the .ipa but when I try to install on my iPad it give an error "request was missing the package patch" error.
I have copied the .ipa file from an iPhone and a work iPad I have (which I have to return on Tuesday), some result :(

I have just checked and it doesnt show on that list :(

It’s not there at all? Strange? I have plenty of apps which show I purchased, but are unavailable as indicated by a grayed out iCloud icon. I’d it possible it was purchased/installed with a different AppleID?

It is strange. I’ve just checked on my iPhone, the app is installed and it doesn’t show on the purchased list.
Just using the same AppleId since day 1

I have kept an .ipa file of a legacy app that I use. It loaded fine in iOS 14.4 using a Mac with both Apple Configurator 2 and with iMazing.

Now under iOS 14.5 it will not load using either of those Mac apps or by Finder drag & drop. The error message in iOS 14.5 is that I need to purchase the app.

Indeed, though it shows the legacy app in my App Store purchase history, it is not available for downloading anymore except in a revised version from a new developer. He doesn't want competition from the legacy app, so I suspect he has purposely let the expired signing certificate lapse.

FWIW, I hear that loading the ipa of an outdated app still works with iOS 14.5 using iTunes for Windows!
