Right now I have my own domain name I use for email. It's on a regular shared webhosting account and uses cPanel. I have one web page on the 'net but I only use it for the email domain name.

I'd like to switch my email to @me.com just so I can have push email on my iPhone. And I guess I need @me.com to use some of the iCloud backup stuff.

The plan was to configure cpanel so all email going to my regular email account get forwarded to my new @me.com email address. That is easy to do.

However, I would like to transfer my emails over to the new account. I was wondering if I can do that in Mac OSX Snow Leopard by simply having two accounts in Mail, and dragging the email from my old account to the new one? I would like to actually just stop using the old email address and account altogether.

I don't know if it matters but I'm using IMAP right now.

Is this possible?

If the current email provider supports IMAP you can add both accounts to the Mail App on the Mac and simply move the mail from the current to the new. However, I thought you could not use iCloud in Snow Leopard.

Oh, I'll be using iCloud on my iPad2 and iPhone4S. And one of these day's I'll upgrade to Lion anyway. But the main thing is I want push email and to transfer all my old email over.

----------

OK, I'm a bit confused now. When I went into my iPhone under Settings --> iCloud and I checked off that I wanted it to backup my notes, it said I needed to enter my me.com email address. I put in the one I wanted and then I think I messed something up.

So how do I create a @me.com email address? Do I have to do it from Lion now, as I do have a Mac Mini with Lion on it...

I think you only need an iOS 5 Device. Really not sure because I just converted my MM Account (http://www.me.com/move) over to iCloud and it created an iCloud Account out of it and also uses it for the email address. Maybe someone else can help.

Well I got my me.com account setup. I'm not sure what to do next but I'll figure it out tomorrow.
